IN AND AROUND ANATOLI VILLAGE
The Parish, All Saints, Church in the middle of the village. The old church has been demolished the new one preserves a fine collection of Byzantine icons in the interior, and two Venetian wall relief on the exterior of the chapel. Courtyard with beautiful views.
The Church of Kato Panagia (Low neighborhood Virgin Mary), a tiny Byzantine-Venetian, double domed, church with Venetian and Byzantine temples, out of marble and woodwork respectively, with the gravestone of a Venetian lord on the floor.
The Church of St. George, a small Byzantine church in the surroundings set in an very beautiful natural environment. An ideal country walk experience via a pathway starting from the last wooden bench you meet outside the village on the direction of Kalamafka. You can go by car also from another direction, from the way of Ierapetra. About 4 km before you reach the village a sign points right towards the church.
The Walk to the Village Cemetery: The best romantic places were chosen for them, a tradition going back to antiquity. It is a calm, relaxing walk just before dinner, with great views to the sea.
The plateau of Stavros (Plateau of Cross): An interesting site, above Anatoli, where you catch panoramic views from all over eastern Crete, including the Golf of Mirabello and Libyan Sea. You go by car or by donkey walk.

Sarakina’s Gorge: A very interesting gorge beginning from the neighbor village Mythoi and ending in Myrtos. It is not all accessible, but it’s worth trying even for some part in the beginning The road follows the gorge offering very beautiful views of the surroundings. The Ha Gorge: one of the most mysterious and dangerous gorges of Crete, attracting world experts. An interesting excursion up to its entrance (it is blocked today) and to the neighboring village of Monastiraki (on the road Ierapetra-Pachia Ammos follow the signs).
Donkey walks and promenades: A British couple, Suzanne and Alistair, have permanently settled in Anatoli, and have an animal farm, organizing donkey excursions along some of the above mentioned old paths and places around the village. They also grow organic vegetables and eggs, hat are for sale.
